a month and a day

I wanted to say something yesterday, the day that marked a month from the quake. I couldn't make it in time. But now, I'm finally writing. It's taking me a while to remember how. It is five in the morning, and, again, it doesn't look like I'm making it by the end of my day. I will start again when I get up.

A month has passed, and it's not cold anymore. Days are sunny, and flowers are blossoming.

  1. There is still a lot of support for Japan here in the Bay Area. I go to Mitsuwa grocery every couple weeks and each time they have collected more in donations ~ first $30,000, now over $60,000. Yesterday I took 300 cranes that my students folded to Osh Kosh store that is sending cranes and clothing to Japan. Just at that one store they had over 20,000 cranes (which will equal 20,000 articles of clothing)! This made me happy. The photo of your cherry blossoms is beautiful. Thank you for the little news. :)

  2. That is wonderful, Kimi! I've seen and heard of so much kindness since the earthquake. The cherry blossoms are almost gone here now, but the green of the trees are just amazing. I'm sure it's beautiful in the Bay Area now, too, with the sun and spring breeze... :)
